Migrant Settlement Services is a program of Centacare Cairns and it receives its core funding from the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA). It is the DIMIA designated Lead Agency for the provision and coordination of services to migrants in the Far North Queensland region and has been operating since July 1999

Life in a new country, especially one where a different language than your own is used, can be very difficult. Migrant Settlement Services is about making Australia a welcoming and successful home for people of all cultural and linguistic backgrounds. It provides information, advocacy support and assistance for migrant individuals and groups.

Its aim is to make sure that migrants receive fair treatment and have equal access to mainstream services as they work to make new lives and homes in Australia. Whether it be help in setting up a new household, finding work, establishing funding for community groups to help themselves, Migrant Settlement Services is there.
